My Prayer

My Prayer was transcribed by Michelle Gibson who prefers to use the word transcribed rather the word written. She feels it more clearly gives ownership to an Other source from which Creativity comes.

The most transformative insights thus far of my life were gifted to me by Jacob Israel Liberman’s ‘Luminous Life’. His inspiration brought forth ‘My Prayer.’ May you be inspired in your Creativity as you see and are seen through the Soul we share.

I enter the hermitage

and sit down in shock

my home is like Las Vegas

dishwasher, telephone

street traffic

thud of packages at door

washing machine

radio or television

microwave beeps

kettle boiling

neighbor’s leaf blower

garbage truck shifting gears

Jim and I discussing politics

thirty days of quiet

have I lost my mind

and yet

the silence pulls me

like a magnet attracts

I wish I could impress upon you how one small room can hold so much silence. I’ve put my watercolors and paper on the desk, my flashlight, clock and hand cream on the bedside table, my thermos of hot tea and poetry books by my soft chair. They all look out of place. The stand-up tube of hand cream, deep forest green with a white daisy, seems too loud for this place. I’d never thought about my things being so noisy.
